Blue Knight Muzio Theme Night at Hobson's Bay Chess Club.

For anyone interested Hobson's Bay Chess club is having a themed Allegro tomorrow night. The Theme is the Muzio which arrives after the moves: e4 e5, f4 pxp, Nf3 g5, Bc4 g4. Should be a fun night.

Thanks for the post HeroKing321. It is great to see HBC offering this thematic tournament. I hope it goes well!

    I only played e4 e5 from 1966 to 1972 but when following Fisher's games I changed to 1. d4 - haven't played e4 or pawn to king 4 in 46 years

The Night went very well. I ended up on 3 1/2 out of five. A result I am very happy with. It was also great to see a few new players show up on the night.

A themed Allegro. Now that is a creative initiative. Well done.
FReedom though Fischer-Random chess to enjoy the whole game.

What this is unbelievable - from the guy who has "Freedom though Fischer-Random chess to enjoy the whole game." as his moniker. Bring out the bucket and mop.

Allegro and Blitz are not real chess.

    They are only good for
    • adrenaline junkies, or
    • fund-raisers to pay the rent, or
    • world chess championship playoff deciders.

Fischer-Random can only be (accurately) played at time controls of at least 30 minutes per game.

<Apologies to Heromate for the possibility of detonating thread drift here.>

I wasn't judging the quality of play but the straight jacket of themed chess compared to the total freedom of Fischer random - like comparing a nun to a free love hippy.

Congratulations Daniel! To win with a picket-fence, despite piece odds, is mighty impressive. Go get that Grandmaster title!

No games were recorded from the event as it was an Allegro. The opening moves however were set for everyone and started: e4 e5, f4 exf4, Nf3 g5, Bc4 g4.
