Also, forgive the comparison, but in other extra curricular activities, parents are expected to spend their own money to get specialized coaching for their children. Why are state chess associations expected to cough up these funds?

Additionally, there are so many great teaching resources on the internet now. Is GM/IM coaching even worth the money anymore, unless perhaps your ACF rating is 2000 plus?
